Terms of Service

Jev for Excel · Last updated September 29, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and SulfurByte ("we", "us") covering your use of Jev for Excel ("the add-in") and of the service at jev.sulfurbyte.com that answers its formulas ("the service"). By installing or using the add-in you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use it. If you use the add-in on behalf of a company or other organisation, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms for it.

1. Using Jev for Excel

The add-in, the service, their code and the Jev for Excel name and logo belong to SulfurByte. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the add-in in Microsoft Excel, subject to these terms. The license gives you no ownership of them. You may not:

  • copy, modify, sell, rent or redistribute the add-in, or reverse engineer it except where the law permits;
  • call the service other than through the add-in, or resell or share access to it;
  • try to get around its usage limits, for example by spreading requests across addresses or resetting the add-in's installation ID;
  • use it for anything unlawful, or to process text you have no right to process;
  • use it in a way that breaks the terms of the services behind it, OpenRouter's terms and TypeSafe's terms. For example, don't send content that is illegal, infringes someone else's rights or contains malware.

Your use of Excel itself remains governed by Microsoft's terms.

2. How it works

The add-in adds functions to Excel under the JEV. prefix. When one of these formulas calculates, the add-in sends the text of the cells the formula points at, together with your question and any options or levels you gave it, to our server. Our server passes it on to OpenRouter, which runs it through Jev, a decision model made by TypeSafe AI, Inc., and the answer comes back to your cell. The add-in needs an internet connection to do this. What happens to that text is described in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.

3. Your content

The text you send and the answers you get back are yours. These terms give us no ownership of them, only the permission needed to send your text to the services above and return the answer. You are responsible for the text you point formulas at. Don't use the add-in on text you aren't allowed to share with third-party services, such as data covered by a confidentiality agreement or personal data you have no legal basis to process this way.

4. Answers are machine-generated

Every answer comes from an AI model. It can be wrong, it can answer similar text differently, and answers can change when the model is updated. Probabilities, confidences and scores are the model's own estimates, not guarantees. Check the answers before you rely on them, and don't use them as the only basis for decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on people, such as hiring, credit, housing, medical or legal decisions.

5. Price, limits and availability

  • The add-in is currently free and needs no account.
  • The service has usage limits, daily and per minute. Some apply to your installation or network address, and one is shared by everyone who uses the add-in, so you can reach a limit even if you have used little yourself. We may change the limits at any time. When one is reached, formulas show an error until it resets (the daily limits reset at midnight UTC), and you can retry them then. How the limits use your data is described in the Privacy Policy.
  • The service depends on third parties (see section 6), so we can't promise it will always be available, fast or error-free.
  • We may add paid features or plans later. If we do, their price and terms will be shown before you can buy them, and you are only charged if you choose to buy.

6. Third-party services and trademarks

Answers are produced by OpenRouter and TypeSafe, and the service is hosted on Cloudflare. Their own terms and policies apply to their part of the work, and we are not responsible for their services. Jev for Excel is not made, endorsed or supported by Microsoft. Microsoft and Excel are trademarks of the Microsoft group of companies, and Jev belongs to TypeSafe. The add-in includes open-source components, used under their own licenses, which are listed in its third-party notices.

7. Changes to the add-in and these terms

We may update, change or discontinue functions of the add-in, or the model behind them, at any time. We may also update these terms. The current version will always be posted at this address with its "last updated" date. Continuing to use the add-in after a change means you accept the updated terms.

8. Termination

You can stop using Jev for Excel at any time by removing the add-in from Excel. We may block your access to the service if you materially breach these terms or misuse it, and we may shut the service down, in which case the functions stop returning answers.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Jev for Excel and the service are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by this section.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SulfurByte is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or loss of data or profits, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the add-in or its answers. Our total liability for any claim relating to the add-in is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of protections granted by mandatory laws of your country of residence.
