Dayshot - My Photo Journal ("Dayshot", "the app") is developed by SulfurByte ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles and what happens to it. The short version:
Dayshot has no accounts, no ads, and no analytics. Your photos and journal entries stay on your device. The only data that leaves your phone is what's needed to process your purchase, and that never includes your photos, your writing, or anything you do in the app.
Data stored on your device
Dayshot keeps all of its data locally on your phone, in the app's private storage:
- The photos you add to your journal (copied into the app's private folder)
- Your journal entries: titles, text, dates and times
- Your settings and preferences, and your recent searches
- If you set up the app lock: your PIN, stored only as a salted cryptographic hash, never as the PIN itself
None of this is ever uploaded, collected by us, or shared with anyone. Android's automatic cloud backup is switched off for Dayshot, so the system does not copy this data to Google Drive either. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage permanently deletes all of it.
Backups you create
The Backup feature packs your entries, photos, and settings into a single file, and only when you tap "Create backup". You choose where that file goes using your phone's own share dialog, for example to your storage, your email, or a cloud drive of your choice. The app never sends a backup anywhere by itself, and we never receive it. Backup files you created remain wherever you saved them, so delete them there if you no longer want them.
Camera and photos
Dayshot asks for camera and photo library access only so you can add pictures to your journal. Chosen pictures are copied into the app's private storage and processed on your device only. The app never uploads them.
App lock and biometrics
If you enable biometric unlock, the fingerprint or face check is performed by Android itself. The app only receives a yes or no answer and never sees, stores, or transmits any biometric data.
Purchases
Dayshot Pro is a one-time purchase processed by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details. To recognize your purchase across reinstalls we use RevenueCat, a purchase-infrastructure service. RevenueCat receives a randomly generated anonymous identifier for your app installation, your purchase receipt, basic device information (device model, OS version, app version), and the IP address of the device's requests, enough to know whether your purchase is active, and nothing about how you use the app. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.
Notifications
The daily reminder is scheduled locally on your device. No notification data leaves your phone.
What we don't do
- No user accounts and no sign-in
- No advertising and no ad networks
- No analytics or tracking SDKs
- No selling or sharing of personal data, we have none to sell
Data retention and deletion
Local data lives only on your device: clear the app's storage or uninstall the app to delete it. Backup files you created are under your control wherever you saved them. To request deletion of the anonymous purchase data held by RevenueCat, contact us at the address below and we will pass the request on.
Children
Dayshot is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, children included.
Your rights
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have rights under the GDPR, including access, correction, and erasure of personal data. Since Dayshot holds no personal data about you on our side beyond the anonymous purchase record described above, most requests can be answered immediately; either way, contact us and we will help.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated "last updated" date. For significant changes we may also let you know in the app.
